Background
Tanzania has some of the most iconic spots in Africa – Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, the beaches of Zanzibar, and Gombe National Park. While the overall literacy rate is around 78%, the literacy rate for females is just 73%(1). Most people speak Kiswahili/Swahili, Arabic, or English.
Iringa
The major ethnic group in Iringa is the Wahehe. Many people earn a living by farming and raising livestock. Primary schools teach in Swahili while also teaching students English.

William, the school director at Luganga Secondary School, has asked for a school library to help increase literacy levels in the community and to improve their education efforts at the school. Volunteers will travel to the school to work with staff to organize the space and the books, plus train the new school librarian.
